The uniqueness of this offering has led Ardbeg to call it "the sharpest, zingiest, and wildest Ardbeg ever". Despite this, it maintains the Ardbeg signature style of tarry, sooty smoke, balanced against citric sweetness and an oily mouthfeel.

Released in February 2022, this whisky was exclusively available to Ardbeg Committee members, a fan club tasked with protecting the distillery's legacy. The Fermutation is part of Ardbeg's unique lineage of offerings, resulting from a happy accident and providing a distinct variation on their traditional process.
