The Brora 1972 - 40 Year Old is a limited edition single malt whisky, distilled at the Brora distillery, which was previously known as Clynelish. This whisky was aged for 40 years and bottled in 2014.
A total of 160 bottles were produced, each presented in a crystal decanter featuring the emblem of the Scottish Wildcat, reflecting the distillery's heritage. The decanter is labeled for the 'World of Whiskies Exclusive' and is part of a 'Limited Edition' bottling series.
The whisky has an alcohol by volume of 59.1% and is characteristic of Brora's heavily peated style. Each bottle is encased in a wooden case crafted by NEJ Stevenson, cabinet makers by appointment to the Queen. The presentation and scarcity of this release contribute to its value in the collectors' market.
As one of the oldest releases from Brora, the 1972 vintage is a 700 ml single malt that is sought after by collectors and investors in the United Kingdom and potentially beyond, due to its limited availability and the reputation of the distillery.
