The Glenfarclas 1966 is a release from the Family Collector Series I, limited to 1,444 bottles. It was distilled on September 23, 1966, and bottled on December 18, 2013, after maturing for 47 years in fino sherry casks, which is noted for being a variation from Glenfarclas's usual maturation process. The whisky is bottled at 50.5% ABV and comes in a 700 ml bottle. The casks used for this particular bottling were numbered 4194, 4195, and 4197.
Each bottle of Glenfarclas 1966 - Fino Casks - Family Collector Series I is encased in a black box and includes a silver coin depicting John Grant, the founder of the distillery. This edition is the first of six in the series, with each subsequent release intended to honor a different generation of the Grant family's involvement in the distillery. The limited availability and historical significance of this series have made it a collectible item among whisky enthusiasts.
