The Glenmorangie 1991 Grand Vintage, part of the Bond House No.1 Collection, features whisky matured in Glenmorangie's historic 19th-century warehouse. Distilled in 1991, this expression is the fourth in the series. Unique in its maturation process, it showcases Glenmorangie's approach to cask experimentation.
Two distinct parcels of whisky form the foundation of this release. Initially matured in bourbon wood, one parcel underwent an additional decade-long maturation in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The other was finished in ex-Burgundy casks. This dual cask finish creates a diverse flavour profile, introducing elements of sweetness, spice, and earthy notes.
In addition to the ex-Oloroso sherry and ex-Burgundy cask finishes, a proportion of the whisky was aged in new toasted oak for a short period. Distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2018, this whisky has a strength of 43.0% Vol., and 7551 bottles were released.
Belonging to the Bond House No.1 Collection, the Glenmorangie 1991 Grand Vintage encapsulates the distillery's tradition and innovation. The unique cask finish and limited release status make it notable in the realm of whisky collection and investment.
