The Tullibardine distillery is located in the Highland region. A brewery was initially situated here instead of the distillery, producing ale from the 12th century. Beer was delivered to the royal court and had a great popularity, but the brewery's fame declined over time and by the 20th century the production stopped. The brewery was converted into a distillery in 1947 and the production of whisky started in 1949. The distillery was inactive from 1993 to 2003. The owner was replaced in 2003 and as a consequence the production was relaunched in 2004.
