The Balvenie Tun 1401 - Batch No. 2 is a limited single malt Scotch whisky, which features a noteworthy blend from the Speyside distillery. This expression was released in 2011 and symbolizes the meticulous selection and blending skill of Malt Master David Stewart.
This batch consists of a unique marriage of ten casks - seven American Oak bourbon casks and three European Oak sherry butts. These casks were hand-picked by Malt Master David Stewart from the distillery's Warehouse 24, a location noted for housing some of the distillery's most special casks. The cask numbers are as follows: 9916, 16114, 5215, 17751, 15348, 5820, 6993, 13251, 3543, and 8701.
Once selected, these casks were combined and left to rest in Tun 1401, Balvenie's traditional oak marrying vessel, for several months. This process allows for a harmonious integration of flavors from different casks. The Balvenie Tun 1401 - Batch No. 2 was bottled at a strength of 50.6% Vol.
With a total production limited to 2226 bottles, the Balvenie Tun 1401 - Batch No. 2 signifies the attention to craftsmanship and the specific barrel selection that Balvenie is renowned for.
