The Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch No. 3 is a unique single malt whisky, bottled by the distillery in 2011 as part of the Tun 1401 series. Designed to celebrate the craft of whisky-making, this edition of Tun 1401 was the first available in the United States market. The limited run comprised 1,800 bottles, providing an exclusive opportunity for whisky collectors and investors.
This Balvenie whisky was curated by Malt Master David Stewart, known for his expertise and meticulous selection process. For Batch No. 3, a mixture of seven traditional whisky casks (#9919, #12541, #5239, #7043, #15327, #5829, #6302) and three sherry butts (#5182, #13137, #13836) was chosen. These whiskies were then married in Tun 1401, Balvenie's traditional oak marrying vessel, for several months, emphasizing the character and complexity of the spirit.
In crafting this whisky, Balvenie showcased their dedication to traditional methods and the influence of cask selection on the final product. The Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch No. 3 embodies the distillery's commitment to producing distinct and noteworthy expressions, contributing to its appeal amongst whisky enthusiasts.
